The end of October sure did sneak up on me! It seems like life around here really picked up in the past 10 days. Believe it or not this is my first time sitting down at the computer for more than 5 minutes in at least the last week, and we have been a little bit busy to say the least. The last 10 days have included a quick trip to Gatlinburg on the way Charlotte to visit my sister (Abbott's first road trip!), a great Halloween party, a 30th birthday tea, a visit to Louisville, pumpkin carving, visiting with family and trick-or-treating. Whew. Obviously there were many great memories to be had this October!
I think one of the biggest things that sticks out to me as October winds down is how much of a family month this has been. I have been blessed to spend the whole month start to finish on maternity leave with Abbott. We've been able to travel and visit with tons of family which has been fabulous. Both Matt and myself have been blessed with wonderful parents and grandparents, and even great-grandparents! Many of whom we've been spending lots of quality time with this month.
On Saturday we were able to make a quick trip to Louisville to visit Matt's grandparents. We hadn't been able to see them since the baby was born, so it was there first time meeting Abbott! It was a great visit. Laurelei had fun playing with everyone and we were so happy for them to meet Abbott. Matt took some great pictures of his grandparents while we were there too.
On Sunday we spent time with my family for our annual pumpkin carving! (More on that in the next post! :) My memaw and papaw came over to enjoy some yummy pot roast, and Laurelei warmed up to them again quickly as soon as they walked in the room! Her and papaw were certainly fast friends.
I was blessed to get to know my great grandparents for awhile. I still have a great-grandmother living too. It warms my heart to see Laurelei interact with my grandparents (and her great grandparents) now too. They have been such a big part of my life, I am so glad my children get to know them. What a blessing.
Goodbye October, hello November! We can't wait to see what memories you bring too!
